Ben Maher and Diva slot into second on day one of Madrid
Ben Maher slotted Diva II into second in the 1.40m on day one of the Global Champions tour of Madrid with an easy double clear for eighth. They finished 2.66 sec behind the winner, Belgium’s Ignace Philips on Jidona V Dingenshof.
Ben also posted a steady double clear on new ride Winning Good (Winningmood/Corland), an eight-year-old produced in Britain by Sophie Fawcett.
Emily Moffitt eased the Nabab De Reve 10-year-old Harriri into eighth in the 1.45m to finish more than two sec behind the pace. Scott Brash gave Hello M’Lady a steady first run out, the Indoctro 11-year-old picking up one time fault.
Emily also claimed ninth in the 1.50/1.55m on the 10-year-old Hilfiger Van De Olmenhoeve on clear and four in the 12-strong jump-off, yielded from 57 starters. Scott and Hello Annie returned on four faults in round one to drop down the line.
One time fault in the second phase put Jane Davies and the seven-year-old Cipriani into ninth in the 1.25m. Tess Carmichael posted a similar result on Bangle SR for 10th and Tess also picked up 12th on Unique III.
