Matt Sampson continues on his incredible winning run with a double victory in Fontainebleau

Matthew Sampson is enjoying an incredible recent run and clinched a victory double in Fontainebleau, France.

The super-talented Ebolensky, a ClintonHeartbreaker eight-year-old owned by Rachael Evison, qualified for the prestigious HOYS Foxhunter final just a week earlier after winning at South View, and was again on winning form here for Matt. The pair raced ahead in the 2* 1.40m speed to hand Matt a win by 0.98 sec.

“She finds it all so easy,” he said.

Christopher Franks was 1.09 sec behind for third on the Megabyte eight-year-old Mega Times in the 89-strong class.

Matt took yet another victory with Billy Tortilla – a winner at Chepstow 2* two weeks earlier. Seventy-seven contended the 1* 1.35m speed, but none were a match for Matt, and he guided the Billy Mexico/Vechta nine-year-old into a 3.51 sec win. Chloe Winchester jumped a steadier round for 16th on Contiki and Clare Reynolds was also clear with Dollards Abu Dhabi Cjs for 23rd.

Winners the day before, Jane Annett and the Hermes De Reve nine-year-old Sligo Hermes Touch took second by just 0.42 sec in the 68-strong 1.25m two-phase. Clear and four dropped Jane and the Diarado six-year-old Hold Up into 12th in the young horse 130m.

Clare Reynolds claimed a handsome two sec in hand in the amateur 1.15m two-phase with the Polytraum nine-year-old Pikachu, outpacing all 35 rivals. Joanne Murphy was also double clear and jumped into seventh on Dalacalzini.

Joanne also claimed fifth in the amateur 1.15m speed with the seven-year-old Fairgold (Cicero Z Van Paemel/Jasper) with a steady clear. And Clare picked up 10th in the amateur 1.20m on the Clinton 12-year-old Footloose VT Hazelarenhoekje.
