Alex Barr takes another win in Valkenswaard

Alex Barr jumped to the top in the medium tour 1.25m with Bettilina on the final day of week one at Valkenswaard in the Netherlands. The Kojak/Manhattan 11-year-old claimed the 19-strong jump-off with half a sec in hand.

Tim Wilks topped the six-year-old 1.30m on the Belgian-bred Loeki van het Lindehof, heading the 12-strong jump-off by 0.18 sec. One time penalty prevented Anna Wilks and l’Artiste de Toxandra and they took 14th.

Jodie Maher was best Brit in the 1* 1.35/1.40m grand prix, jumping into fifth on the eight-year-old Editor (Darius/Matterhorn) with a double clear 1.63 sec behind the winner. Alex brought Queen Bee JX into eighth, four faults dropping them down the line from a possible second place.

A steady clear in the 2* 1.35m speed put Jessica Mendoza and Wan Architect into eighth, 3.75 sec behind the pace. And Cressy Neads’ steady penalty-free effort in the medium tour 1.40m placed Elton II into 15th.

Stuart Neads was best of the British in the 2* 1.45m grand prix on Lordanos Junior, the Lordanos 10-year-old stallion providing an easy double clear for ninth. They finished with more than seven sec in arrears of the winner, the Netherlands’ Bianca Schoenmakers on Daylight.

Four faults in the seven-year-old jump-off put Stuart and the Baltic VDL daughter Freya into eighth.
