Robert Smith is best Brit in Linz


Robert Smith rode into second in day one’s 1.50m speed in Linz, Austria, with Ilton.

Seventy-eight contended, with Robert easing the scopey Dulf van den Bisschop nine-year-old stallion into the runner-up spot. Germany’s Felix Habmann took the win by 1.81 sec on Balzaci. Robert Whitaker and Catwalk returned on four faults and Joe Clayton with Millioninmind had eight.

Alison Barton popped the Ukato nine-year-old Donata round the 1.40m speed for ninth with a steady clear 10 sec behind the pace. Michael Whitaker posted two faults on the scopey stallion Cassionato for 23rd.

Michael Whitaker jumped for two faults in the youngster tour 1.35/1.40m speed on the Dollar dela Pierre seven-year-old Arlo de Blondel for 15th.
