Nicole Pavitt hits winning form in France
Nicole Pavitt hit winning form in Maubeuge, France, with a double of wins. She headed the six-bar with the Chellano Z-sired Shahenaz, jumping the final vertical at almost the top of the wings. The competition went to four rounds, with Nicole electing to share with Dominique Hendricks on El Dorado as the only two to post penalty-free rounds in round four. On four faults in round four were Brits William Funnell on Billy Buckingham and Laura Renwick with Top Dollar VI for third place. Lance Whitehouse took seventh on Dior V Overis Z with four in round three.
And Nicole made it two in the seven-year-old 1.35m, galloping to victory with the home-bred Don VHP Z daughter Paris 16 with 0.37 sec to spare. Lance Whitehouse eased the Argento-sired Bazento into fifth three sec behind Nicole. Four faults in round one dropped Laura and Alothain de Blondel to 12th.
Jessie Drea eased the Touchdown-sired Mullaghdrin Touch the Stars into ninth with a steady clear in the world ranking 1.50m speed to finish more than ten sec behind the pace. Four faults dropped Nicole and Areeb OL down to 18th.
In Mantes le Jolie, France, British-based Spaniard Antonio Marinas Soto topped the seven-year-old 1.35m final with Faya Sao Miguel with just 0.05 sec in hand in the 64-strong class.
Antonio claimed seventh in the 1.30m on Miryel with a double clear, two sec behind the winner. And a steady clear in the 1.40m speed with Diamondloma took 21st more than 10 sec behind the winner.
Callum Linning jumped a steady clear on Carrighill Russelle (Russel/Harlequin du Carel) for 14th in the 1* 1.25m speed.
