Chelsea Skelton topped a competitive 1.30m in speedy style on day three at Pyecombe with Judith Witham’s Millfield Baloney against 38 rivals.
Tony Pearson jumped into second place on the 15-year-old Billy Grand (Animo/Cavalier Royale) with Shane Breen on Brendon Stud’s home-bred seven-year-old Warrior/Caretino Glory stallion Warratino in third. Hayley Webster netted fourth place aboard LK Rocky with William Funnell in fifth on Billy Angelo and Chelsea picking up sixth with second ride Caramba.
Leesa Long continued on her winning run at this show to register yet another win on the ultra-consistent Tammys Girl, the pair recording their fourth victory here in the 1.10m. Ben Parnaby brought Captain Junior into second with Ben Walker on Athena in third. Louise Stoner claimed fourth riding Cool Impression with Hayley Webster fifth on Trevoulter Lady Utah and sixth awarded to Jemma Smith’s Over the Mountain.
But Leesa was denied a second win on Tammys Girl when William Rekert jumped ahead to take the 32-strong 1.20m on the Zelote VDL/Lux nine-year-old Daniek. Nick Edwards claimed third with Elastique and Tony Pearson rode Amadeus M into fourth. Mollie Etheridge with Bouchera van den Hut took fifth ahead of sixth-placed Shaun Marsh on Van Douze.
Holly Brougham outpaced all 34 rivals to take the Foxhunter with Untouchable IV, pushing Nicole Pavitt’s Gianni HC into second and Tracy Priest on Fuzeta Beech into third. Nineteen posted double clears here, with Grant Talbot claiming fourth on Chacco Blur, Amanda Stevenson fifth aboard Ralph V and Thomas Fuller filled sixth spot on J Adore van Doude Bosch.
Ben Walker jumped to the top against 70 rivals in the newcomers on Brendon Stud’s home-bred seven-year-old stallion Truly Don (Don VHP Z/Tropic Star) to pick up a generous £150 first prize. Tony Pearson rode into second with I Spy III and Alex Bishop took third aboard Ziezoo G. Steven Franks finished fourth on Arola II, Libby-Rose Newman and Gasiloma SB claimed fifth and Harry Bateman filled sixth and seventh with Heerdelon and Havanna.
Tony claimed a win of his own in the 1.15m members Cup on the Padinus 14-year-old Pepito D’Arsain and also picked up third with the Dutch-bred 11-year-old Bombastic, sandwiching Victoria Cooper into second aboard Caspen Retto. Molly Chandler rode into fourth and fifth on Verona XI and Obos Delightful.
Hannah Tiley posted a hat-trick of victories, claiming a double with the Hesq Mighty Mojave 11-year-old Mojave. She held off all challenges in the 49-strong 1m open to win on Mojave with Danielle Johns chasing hard on the Unbelievable Darco eight-year-old Dolly Darco for second. Debbie Fryer eased Confoe D into third with Elise Pilbeam fourth on Euribor, Henry Welch and Simply Allez fifth and Cordelia Warburton’s Cappagh Uno sixth.
And Hannah and Mojave went on to top the Buckaroo Equine 1.05m adventurer against 34 rivals. Carys Jenkins jumped into second with the eight-year-old mare Savannahs Chacoa and Josh Betts rode into third on Buckshot Irish Mint. Mary O’Connell slotted Nine Chimes into fourth with Stephen Ayres fifth riding Dippyparflam and Zoe Light’s Contendaan sixth.
Hannah’s third win came in the Scope 95cm qualifier as she out-jumped all 50 rivals to take the class at speed on the Kingstown Cavalier 10-year-old Dun Over. Rebecca Riiser claimed second on the 17-year-old Charlie Worcester with Elise Pilbeam in third aboard the eight-year-old Euribor. Debbie Fryer rode into fourth on Confoe D with Charles Duncan on Mai Lis fifth and Charlotte Payne’s Two Tone Boy in sixth.
Charlotte Hayes claimed the tacklockers.com 1m novice with Brendon Stud’s Luxury Number, a Numero Uno/Lux 10-year-old mare. Bryony Padwick slotted Winnie IV into second with Richard Baker in third on Little Em in the competitive, 50-entry class. Ben Walker rode into fourth on Brendon Stud’s Lord Pleasure just in front of Ruby Fryer’s Hallmark in fifth and Ben Dalton, sixth on Heavenly Blue.
Simon Leadbetter gambled with speed in the 37-strong British novice and it paid handsomely, he topped the class on the five-year-old Casino Royale 007 (Talan/Ard Ohio). Josephine Harrington claimed second on the six-year-old Quick Step IV with Graeme Burton third aboard Chaplins Disco Dancer. Harrison Chart took fourth with Direct Cruising, Morgan Shirley was fifth on Grandiamo and sixth went to Steven Franks on Cheyenne Balloon.
Charles Duncan netted first and third in the 90cm open, winning with the Ojasper 16-year-old mare Mais Lis and taking third on the 19-year-old Romero S, sandwiching Charlotte McKee into second with the Cevin Z seven-year-old Billy Blitz.
