Anthony Condon takes a win in Eschweiler

Anthony Condon topped the seven-year-old 1.40m two-phase at the Eschweiler Jumping Featival in Germany with Friso (Azteca VDL/Phin Phin), winning by an impressive 3.34 sec. Reece Oliver brought Coalition (Ullyses/Libro) - bred in Britain by Liane Smith – into third and David McPherson was also double clear for eighth on CC (Cariano/Cormint).

One very frustrating time fault when just a fraction over the time prevented James Billington from joining the 11-strong jump-off of the 2* world ranking 1.45m. He wasn’t the only one, two more riders were penalty-free but picked up time faults, although James was the fastest of these for 12th place on the Quaprice Z/Jus de Pomme 11-year-old Baltic VDL. Spain’s Paola Amilibia on Tarzan de Flandre took the win with 0.57 sec in hand. Four faults in round one put British-based Irishman Peter Maloney with D’atlantique Royale and Louise Simpson on Grafit into 15th and 17th.

Flo Norris eased the Douglas/Oklund nine-year-old Darling HDH into seventh in the silver tour 1.25m final, finishing 1.91 sec behind the winner, Germany’s Marian Muller on Colago. Flo also picked up ninth in the junior 1.40m on the Indoctro/Quick Star 11-year-old Songe de Toscane.

Jay Venables jumped into fourth in the 1.20m with the Cassini II 14-year-old Cordillera. They were 3.77 sec behind the winner, Germany’s Jacqueline Bree on Celine 243.
