Jamie Wingrove is in the winning groove in Oliva Nova

Jamie Wingrove jumped to the top in the seven-year-old on the Spring Met IV tour in Oliva Nova.

Seventeen of the 31 starters posted first round clears to go forward against the clock with Jamie and Mark and Helen Wells and Georgia Reynolds’ Heartstring (Cicero Z van Paemel/Heartbreaker) posting the quickest of the clears to win by 0.45 sec.

Ireland’s Clem McMahon claimed second on Pacino mare Hilton Alibi. Stuart Neads picked up five faults in round one on Freya to drop down the line.

Carmen Edwards posted a win in the five-year-old with new ride Happy Valerie (Verdi/Dutchboy), winning with two sec in hand.

Clear and four dropped British-based Irishman Barry Drea on the Billy Mexico gelding Okehurst Mr Mexico into sixth. Carmen and second ride SHW Candies Diamond posted four in round one for 10th.

Barry guided My Lady OL (Armitage 2/Landlord into third in the six-year-old, 1.33 sec behind the pace. Jamie was also double clear to take sixth spot o Genesis HB (Carrera VDL/Wittinger VDL).

In Arezzo, Italy, on the Toscana tour, Shane O’Reilly headed the six-year-old 1.30m speed on Oakingham Stud’s Belga du Thot (Mozart des Hayettes/Rosire), winning by 1.32 sec. Shane also picked up fifth on Bigstar Derick (Popstar Lozonais/Klotaire do Moulin) just behind fellow stable jockey Roger McCrea with Di Caprio (Diarado/Cassini I) in fourth.

In the six-year-old 1.20/1.25m, Shane picked up ninth on Birdy du Thot (Magic d’Elle/Le Tot de Semilly), some 14 sec behind the pace.

Four faults in the second phase of the seven-year-old 1.30m dropped Mackenzie Ray and Fashion ES (Diarado/Calvados) to 15th. Roger posted similar results on Anis de la Piece (Norway de la Lande/Shaliman du Thot).

In San Giovanni, Italy, Jamie Gornall slotted the Contendro-sired Count Codex into 10th in the seven-year-old with clear and four.
