Charlotte Platt is best Brit in Lanaken

Charlotte Platt maintained her run of good form on the Z tour at Lanaken to feature in the top-billed 3* 1.30m grand prix on the concluding day of week two. 

Eleven of the 48 posted round one clears to go forward into the jump-off with the nine-year-old Verdi/Padinus stallion Jenson 55 stepping up to the plate with another clear to take fifth just 0.77 sec behind the winner.  Belgium’s Rik Hemeryck claimed victory on Calitto van’T Zorgvliet.  Sam Hutton was fastest four in round one for 13th on Happydam and William Whitaker guided Utamaro D Ecaussines into 17th, also on four.

 

Four faults in the 3* 1.45m speed dropped Charlotte from second to 14th on the Lupicor/Goodwill 10-year-old Colien V.

Ellie Meager posted a super double clear on Cassius III to take third in the under 25 1.45m. Only seven of the 33 starters produced initial clears with Ellie jumping clear again on the 12-year-old Calato/Literat stallion to finish 6.78 sec behind the winner, Greece’s Ioli Mytilineou on Gintonic DB.

Laura Robinson was also in the mix but four faults dropped the nine-year-old Lombelle (Landos/Lacros) down to seventh. Four faults in round one put Zoe Smith and Mandy McGlynn’s Caretino Glory/Goodtimes nine-year-old Que Sera III into ninth.

 

Seventy tackled the 3* 1.45/1.50m with 14 gaining first round clears to access the jump-off, including Emma Slater and Art D Usance. But the Kigali/Mermus R 12-year-old lowered a rail in round two to put the pair into 11th. William Whitaker and the Lord Z/Carthago nine-year-old Ilusionata van’T Meulenhof returned four faults in round one.

 

Tim Wilks picked up seventh in the under 25 1.30m speed with Shine, a seven-year-old Billy Congo daughter, finishing 5.78 sec behind the winner. Amy Leggatt (Donatella) and Anna Wilks (Knock Out van Paradisj) bot returned four faults to drop out of contention.

A steady double clear in the 3* 1.40m saw Sam Hutton and the Vingino/Voltaire eight-year-old Elyah Lalan slot into 12th, 2.52 sec behind the pace.

 

Tara McDonald jumped a a steady double clear on the Indoctro/Pierrot seven-year-old Fygo von d’Ouwe Grint claimed 11th spot in the 3* 1.30m, finishing 4.32 sec behind the winner. Emma Slater was also penalty-free for 16th on the Balou Star seven-year-old Ruxton Hullabalou.

 

Three time faults dropped Lee Williams on the Balou du Rouet/Guidam seven-year-old Balulu to 18th in the 3* 1.35m.

 

Spencer Roe jumped an easy clear in the young horse six-year-old 1.30m speed for 12th on Gusto (Baltic VDL/Corland). Tim Wilks and Glory Warrior (Warrior/Caretino Glory) and Spencer on second ride Gambler B (Campell VDL/Arkansas) posted one time fault for 16th and 17th. Jude Burgess and Germates (Warrant/Goodtimes) returned a fast four to drop from fourth to 21st.

 

In the 1* 1.30m two-phase, Kyra Vanstone jumped into sixth with the Londontimes/Madison nine-year-old D Jimbob, 5.36 sec behind the winning time. Sarah Williams and Calvaro Star picked up one time fault.
