Annabel Shields posts a double in Kronenberg

Annabel Shields – a winner of five classes in week one – doubled up on day one of week two at de Peelbergen, Kronenberg in the Netherlands.

Brits landed a one-two in the 84-strong 1.40m speed grand prix qualifier, Annabel forging ahead on Wet Wet Wet (Mr Blue/Royal Feu) to take the class in fine style. She wrenched the top spot from fellow Brit Jonathan Dixon’s grasp by 0.72 sec and he had to settle for second on the Contender/Argentinus 15-year-old Continio.

And Annabel also topped the 1.25/1.30m young horse two-phase with Rubin VHS. The Zenith/Chellano Z seven-year-old claimed the win by 0.62 sec. Alex Barr rode into fifth on the Balou du Rouet/Chin Chin seven-year-old mare Ferrara Durona some three sec in arrears. Nick Benterman guided the Chacco Blue seven-year-old Chaccarino into a steady double clear to finish down the line.

Alex jumped into third in the 2* 1.40m medium tour qualifier with Queen Bee JX, a Quicksilber/Couleur Rubin 10-year-old mare bred in Scotland. They proved 1.66 sec behind the winner. Portia Howard guided the eight-year-old mare Exclusive into 10th and Jodie Maher also jumped clear on Editor in this speed class.
