Michaela Huntington doubles up on day one at Bonheiden

Michaela Huntington got Bonheiden, Belgium, off to a flying start with a winning double.

She recorded a win on the Asca Z/Crown Z nine-year-old Alegro Z. The pair headed the 1.30m speed by 1.66 sec over fellow Brit Helen Tredwell on Phil Tuckwell’s 10-year-old Baloubet du Rouet daughter Balouetta. Lisa Jones guided Diana P (Silverstone/Indoctro)into fifth with Kyra Vanstone 12th on D Jimbob, Olivia Gent took 13th on Rumers Cascari and Katie Pytches claimed 14th with Jolie Fleur van de Noordheuvel. Also clear was Lucy Turner in 16th on Fantasy II and Luke Thompson slotted Conzales M into 17th.

And Michaela also claimed the six-year-old on the For Fashion/Emilion mare Gina Trojka S, winning by 1.13 sec. Helen was also double clear and slipped Fidibus (For Ever Jump/Coriano) into 10th.

Rachael Connor maintained her brilliant form to head the seven-year-old on Fantastic, the Casantos/Oklund mare winning with a 0.40 sec advantage. Ben Walker brought Aphrodite (Marius Claudius/Corradol) into third and British-based Irishman Peter Maloney jumped into 10th on Compelling Z (Chellano Z/Carthago Z). Lee Williams returned penalty-free on two rides, TJ Dynamic and Balulu finishing in 12th and 14th.

John Steels topped the five-year-old on Highhope DD, a Durant/Grefor mare, taking the win with more than four sec in hand over fellow Brit Danielle Ryder and the Emerald van’t Ruytershof stallion Escape Z. Ben Bick claimed fourth on Chacco Star (Chacco-Blue/Coriall) with Danielle in seventh on second ride Hypromesse (Harley VDL/Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve) and Michaela in eighth aboard the Spartacus stallion High Five.
