Graham Babes takes another win in Mijas

Brits filled five of the top seven places in the Costa del Sol tour’s five-year-old in Mijas. The on-form Graham Babes again topped the class on the classy Ma Fleur JS (Emerald van Ruyters/Cassini II) with more than four sec to spare. Sebastian Bishop claimed second and third on Hollandani (Caleandro/Celano) and Springsteen (Spartacus/Canabis Z) and Lauren Edwards brought Breit Star into fifth and Carumba into seventh.

Steven Franks proved best Brit in the Master 1.45m, jumping into third in the 37-strong two-phase competition on the Billy Congo/Galvano 11-year-old Brutus III. They were 2.34 sec behind the winner, Belgium’s Francois Mathy Jr on Balthazar VP Wisbeco. William Funnell guided the Vechta nine-year-old Billy Buckingham into eighth with the steadiest of the double clears and Anna Power was one of the fastest four-faulters in the second phase for 10th on Edison V.

Harry Charles jumped into third in the Master 1.35m on the Tangelo/Kojak eight-year-old Ernestine F just half a sec in arrears of the winning time. Graham Babes brought the Calvados nine-year-old Calvade de Pikkerie Z into fifth with Max Routledge in eighth on Seico and Alex Gill picking up ninth on Dienna in the 13-strong jump-off. Picking up one time fault in round one was Chloe Smith in 15th on Victoria and Stacey Babes’ Cazador LS took 17th.

Alex Gill cantered into third in the Premium 1.40m speed with The Drawness (Nintender/Landerdel) finishing 4.89 sec behind the winning time. Steven Franks eased the Quicksilber eight-year-old Amethyst into fourth and Sienna Charles claimed sixth on Chaitanya 2.

Honor Draycott landed a win in the Premium 1.30m with the Lux Z/Clover Hill 10-year-old Lux de Lux, claiming a 0.38 sec advantage over fellow Brit Sammie-Jo Coffin on the Lupicor nine-year-old Devil’s Kiss. Lauren Edwards rode Carnaval Cocktail into fifth with Holly Truelove taking eighth on Golly Girl. Henry Truelove jumped into 10th on Evaterma, Max Routledge finished 15th on Centos Girl and Hay Charles returned the steadiest of the double clears for 19th on Knoxville. Robert Smith and the promising Big Time-sired Times Up jumped clear and one time for 20th.

Max Routledge pushed the Cascane 12-year-old Stapleton Mist into seventh in the Master 1.40m speed with a steady round almost 12 sec behind the winner. Harry took eighth on Vivaldi du Dom and his sister Scarlett claimed 10th with Sacree du Rouet. William Funnell posted one time fault on Billy Angelo for 12th.

Lara Whiteway rode into third place in the Premium 1.20m speed with Galizano (Classido/Landgraf) just over two sec adrift from the winner. Sammie-Jo Coffin was close behind for fourth on Churchill Z with Olivia Howell in 12th and 18th on Black Label and Corsiro Z. Skye Klein was 14th on Heavy C with Rachael Williams in 16th aboard Figaro.

Amber Stafford slipped into second in the Premium 1.10m on the Super Trooper de Ness six-year-old Super Charged1.26 sec behind the pace. Olivia Howell claimed sixth on Wantos with Francesca Draycott in ninth on Fernhill Fair Cruise.
