Laura Kraut takes victory at WEF 10
British-based American Laura Kraut landed the opening $35,000 1.45m speed on Caelle at WEF week 10 in Wellington, USA. Sixty-nine starters chased after the top spot and provided 20 clear rounds, with Laura winning on the by the slender margin of 0.06 sec on the Clinton/Darco eight-year-old.
“I got her at the end of her six-year-old year and just spent last year doing the seven-year-olds. This was her first time ever jumping FEI, so she is off to a good beginning” said Laura. “She is super-brave, fast and very competitive and even though it was her firt time jumping an FEI 1.45m, I knew she wouldn’t have any issues, I just went as quick as I though I needed to,” said Laura on the mare that spent her seven-year-old year in Britain and qualified for the HOYS Talentseekers final.
The USA’s Laura Chapot took second on Thornhill Kate with Brit Emily Moffitt in third aboard Zagahorn, a Matterhorn/Wolfgang 13-year-old produced in Britain by Mark Armstrong. Ben Maher with Jule van den Timmenpot and Explosion W and George Whitaker aboard Analyze This both had four faults to drop out of contention.
Ben picked up ninth on Romeo 88 in the 1.40m with a double clear 3.67 sec behind the winner, the USA’s Georgina Bloomberg on South Street. And Joe Davison dropped down to 18th with clear and four on Gatsby in the 1.35m.
