Brits dominate the age classes on the Spanish sunshine tour
The young horse classes featured at the beginning of the week on the Spanish sunshine tour, Vejer de la Frontera, and the Brits were in the money.
Georgie Crumley eased the Catoki/Contender mare Cotoki into second in the seven-year-old section A speed, finishing 2.52 sec behind the winner, Gemany’s Helmut Schonstetter on Vancouver Dreams. Jake Saywell was also clear to push Keeley Durham’s home-bred Arakan (Arko III/Randi) into sixth spot.
Chris Megahey jumped into seventh on the Carolus gelding Fardence in the seven-year-old B section speed, some six sec behind the winning time. Nine clears of 28 were produced with Danny Dunne and For Killy in eighth.
Lance Whitehouse on the home-bred Peppermill/ARD Ohio mare Whitesparke Pepper headed the six-year-old section A speed with 1.20 sec to hand. Pippa Goddard guided the Cascall daughter Toki II into second and Joe Whitaker claimed fourth on Black Pearl Leone. Pippa was also 10th on Zoon van London with Kate Whitaker in 11th on Val de Vauxelles and David Wingrove jumping an easy clear on Grandeur III for 13th.
Rosie Gunn jumped into second in the six-year-old B section speed on Jagerbomb (Arezzo VDL/Indoctro), 2.04 sec in arrears of the winner, Belgium’s Karel Cox and Nistria V/D Winning Z. Spencer Roe was close behind for third with the Baltic VDL/Corland gelding Gusto and Alison Barton picked up seventh on Genesis. Matt Sampson posted the steadiest clear on Cristo Beech for 12th.
Alice Palmer claimed almost three sec in hand to win the five-year-old on Murphy Hof Ter Zeedycke (Cassanova/Cavaggio VD Holstenhoeve). Jess Dimmock brought the Perigueux/Grannus gelding Vamoose into fourth just ahead of Simon Crippen in fifth on Budgie. Abbe Elliott claimed sixth with Celtic Dream PSS Z and Guy Williams was seventh on Medoc de Toxandria. Samantha Kettle took 14th on Hongkong VDO, Donald Whitaker finished 16th with Handstand and also posting clear rounds was Pippa Goddard’s Hadesh VDS and Georgia Distefano on Dincky Toy Z.
