Laura Mantel hits the top spot in Vilamoura
Laura Mantel has quietly jumped clears with the New Priory Stud’s five and six-year-olds, and the patience paid off handsomely in Vilamoura with victory in the five-year-old aboard Zacalve. Laura guided the Zacharov/Lucky Boy stallion - who will stand at stud at New Priory Stud later in the year - into a 0.45 sec win. Laura also picked up sixth on Super Nova (Casall/Carthago) and 12th with Hauri Blue M (Mr Blue/Boreas).
Jackson Reed-Stephenson claimed third on Haileys (Indoctro/Indorado) with Vaness Jobson-Scott on Muna VD Bisschop (Windows VH Costers/Nabab de Reve) in fourth and Sophie Fawcett in fifth aboard Cedric (Catoo/C-Trenton Z). Barry Dove jumped into seventh on Hamona (VDL Sheraton/Vincenzo) with Emma Stoker 10th on Grand Stakkato, Chloe Aston in 13th aboard Merci de Geliveau, Jackson on second ride Revelation in 15th and Dan Moseley 16th on Magic Quality – all jumping clear.
And Laura Mantel also featured in the six-year-old, finishing in third on the Hos d’O/Vaillant mare Gerdien 2 van de Oldenhoff behind Laura Renwick, second on her home-bred Arkuga, her speedy mare Beluga’s first foal and by Arko. France’s Julien Gonin took the win on Carrat d’Alleriat Z.
Lucy Guild finished fourth on Gucci LSH (Je T’aime Flamenco/Nimmerdor) and Laura Renwick also claimed fifth on MHS Sanfrancisco (Quidam Junior/Cavalier Royale). Stephen Lohoar was seventh on Gizmo (Spartacus/Indoctro) ad Philip Spivey took eighth on Alicerova (Romanov/Contender). Jude Burgess was 10th and 11th on Gimona and Germates, Laura Mantel took 13th on NPS Erleena, Emma Stoker was 15th on Cool Cash, James Smith was in 18th on Casienna and also posting double clears was Vanessa Jobson-Scott (Follyfoot Arkadia), Dan Moseley (Bergenn de Kergane), Lisa Hales (Genairo III van Zeilhoek), James Smith (Shorty 98), Sam Wall (Alejandro S Z), Sophie Fawcett (Diamino Blue), Philip Spivey (Luke 10) and Emma Stoker (Quatinka).
Laura Renwick was in her usual speed mode in the seven-year-old speed to take the class by 0.69 sec on the Newton de Kreisker/Heartbreaker gelding Alothain de Blondel. Emma Stoker took fifth and seventh on Pembroke 3 (Perigueux/Quick Star) and Everton de Villee (Arko III/Darco) with Nicole Pavitt in sixth and eighth aboard Zampa Z (ZAndor Z/Carthago Z) and Paris 16 (Don VHP Z/Quo Vadis). Dan Moseley was also clear for 27th on Flavio (Cicero Z van Paemel/Erdball XX).
In the 1.10m speed, Henry Turrell took 11th on the Cardento/Numero Uno stallion Rocco with Emily Ward 14th on the Toulon six-year-old Giraldo.
