Mennell Watson quietly whispers into a win at South View

Mennell Watson captured the winter 1.35m qualifier with Whisper in the Wind to qualify for Addington Manor’s spring finals on the final day of South View’s premier show. Second and third in the first day’s 1.40m on Outcast and Whisper, Mennell left no room for improvement this time and forged to the front in the concluding 1.35m to claim the £500 winner's purse on the Cobretti stallion.

Gemma Ellison brought the Diamant de Semilly/Grandeur 12-year-old Rambler VDL into second with Angel Tough and Callumbus taking third and the final qualifying spot.

Tom Whitaker claimed fourth on Ebelina W with Morgan Carpenter in fifth on Tinkas Tyson and James Whitaker took fifth on his Aintree grand prix winner Mersley Chakotay.

Chris Smith topped the winter grade C qualifier on new ride El Wee Widge, the eight-year-old outpacing all to claim victory. Tom Whitaker rode Creevagh Tompico into second with Cristoffer Mollekeer in third on Erico and Corinne Collins taking the final qualifying place in fourth on Dolores P.

A winner earlier in the week, Paul Sims jumped to the top of the DDS Demolition 1.25m on the Numero Uno/Voltaire 14-year-old Wadorijke to qualify for the Blue Chip Championships final. Angel Tough galloped into second on Corgary Atoz with Sandy McLean on Warhol Wulfselection Z in third. Also taking qualifying places was Danielle Kennington on Hanleen Evissa in fourth, Samantha McCurry with Cupido T in fifth and sixth-placed Martha Newall on Everfleur.

Amanda Bywater topped the Foxhunter/grade C with the seven-year-old Outcast daughter Triple Twist. Paul Sims slipped into second on the Kannan nine-year-old Oaken Gracie and fourth with Dantes Inferno, sandwiching Mennell into third aboard Cracker T. Danielle Kennington netted fifth place with Grass and Suzanne Gill rode into sixth on Hazevern Freddie Mercury.

Melissa Hillard headed the newcomers with the 15-year-old My Little Ark, relegating Thomas Strickland into second on Lady Wynne Etie. Charlotte Flack claimed third with the final double clear on Ashdale Luxon.
