Anna Power ramps up the form in Mijas

In Mijas on the Costa del Sol tour, Anna Power jumped the 11-year-old Chesterfield Z (Chippendale Z/Sir Caletto) into second, 0.82 sec preventing a win in the Master 1.30m.

Lara Whiteway and the Contender 13-year-old Bellagio II claimed fourth and Max Routledge opted for a steadier round to take 14th on Carus Royale in this 35-strong class. Stacey Babes was also double clear for 16th on Belle Epoque and Richard Howley was 19th on clear and four with Houpette.

Sienna Charles hit form, taking victory on the Tangelo/Habsburg nine-year-old Dipina in the Premium 1.30m by two seconds over fellow Brit Anna Power and Fix Date, a Hamlet/Notaris seven-year-old. Honor Draycott guided Lux de Lux into eighth with Ben Clark (Lanverdel) 10th, Pippa Funnell (Billy Starlet) 11th and Louise Whitaker (Cuata) taking 12th. Also posting clears was Julie Slade (Nicholas 55), Ben Clark (Falanta), John Whitaker (Chino D’Enfer) and Max Routledge (Centos Girl).

Sienna was also best Brit in the Premium 1.40m accumulator with fourth on the Cartani 10-year-old Chaitanya 2 (pictured), posting a maximum score but more than four sec behind the winner. Anna Power was right behind in fifth on Bina Ford's Edison V and Morgan Kent eased Notis Me into eighth, also on maximum points.

Leonne George is on fire in Spain and posted yet another victory in the Premium 1.20m with I Candy II, a 14-year-old bty Candidatus. On this occasion, they won by 1.34 sec. Leo Lamb jumped into eighth on Oldtown KC – a former ride of Trevor Breen – and Julie Slade took 10th with Billy Angelo. Sanda Nicol claimed 12th on Fashion for Pleasure and clear and four dropped Lara Whiteway to 20th on Cavalia WH.

Jessica Blatchford topped the 1.10m speed with the Indoctro 10-year-old Clementienne, winning by 3.16 sec. Megan Broadway took ninth on Danturano and Francesca Draycott slipped into 10th on Fernhill Fair Cruise.

A touch of four-faultitus dropped Brits out of contention in the Master 1.35m, won by Egypt’s Sameh el Dahan on Laura Renwick’s former winner, Limelight de Breve. Louise Whitaker on Abeer II OL, Max Routledge with Firkove du Rouet and Adrian Whiteway on Cash Point all suffered to take 15th, 16th and 17th.
