Laura Renwick is in winning mode in Vilamoura


Laura Renwick again hit winning form in Vilamoura, heading the seven-year-old in fine style with Alothain de Blondel (Newton de Kreisker/Heartbreaker), winning by 0.83 sec. Nicole Pavitt was sixth with the Home-bred Don VHP Z daughter Paris 16 and Laura Mantel slotted New Priory Stud’s Funnycan into seventh. Emma Stoker took ninth on Everton de Villee and Dan Moseley eased Arrogant Un Prince right behind in 10th. Emma and Nicole with second rides Pembroke 3 and Zampa Z incurred four faults.

James Smith claimed a close second in the 3* 1.35m on the Quidam’s Rubin-sired Quattro 27, just 0.09 sec behind the winner, France’s Nicolas Deseuzes on Ulloa du Trefle. Brits were bunched together in the lower places – Lucy Guild was fifth in this speed class on the Burggraaf 17-year-old Titi D’Oase with Tim Page hot on her heels for sixth aboard Elvera, Laura Mantel took seventh on Glory B V and Sophie Fawcett’s Quite Cadix claimed eighth. Also jumping clear was Sammie-Jo Coffin (Willem de Lux and Bellamy II) in 12th and 24th, Nicole Pavitt on Hussah TM and Gemmarco 16 in 13th and 15th, Emily Ward (Wild Rose) took 16 th, Emma Stoker (Townhead Ballulah) finished 19th, Philip Spivey (Smirnov and Darya I Nur), Sophie Fawcett (Winning Good) and Jude Burgess (Comeback de Fremis).

Nicole Pavitt pushed the seven-year-old mare Fae Singapore into second in the 3* 1.30m, 0.92 sec behind the pace. Lucy Guild claimed sixth on Hugana Van T Heike and Emma Stoker was ninth aboard Miss Moneypenny. Philip Spivey was 15th on VDL Cassius, Sammie-Jo Coffin was 17th with Simply Splendid and 22nd aboard Zig Zag, Laura Renwick claimed 19th with Bintang II and Stephen Lohoar was 24th on Dante.

Laura was best Brit in the six-year-old, taking fourth on the Guidam Junior/Cavalier Royale mare MHS Sanfrancisco, 1.86 sec behind the pace. Tim Page took sixth on Wild Balou Bill, Laura Mantel was ninth on Gerdien 2 van de Oldenhoff, Emma Stoker claimed 10th with Cool Cash and Lisa Hales was 11th aboard Genairo III van de Zielhoek. Emma also picked up 14th with Shariva and 18th on Quatinka.

Luck wasn’t with the Brits in the 1.45m, won by Belgium’s Thierry Goffinet on Artuur JH Z. Chloe Aston on Amigo T was best Brit on four faults for 20th place. Tim Page (Duc D’Arsouilles), James Smith (Balibu), Emily Ward (Remi Cavalleri) and Emma Stoker (Townhead Campus) also posted four faults.
