Michael Whitaker and Millie Allen are in the money at Offenburg
Michael Whitaker claimed fourth in the concluding 1.55m grand prix of Offenburg in Germany, posting a double clear on Jayne Bean’s JB’s Hot Stuff.
Germany dominated the nine-horse jump-off – yielded from 49 starters – filling the top two places. Niklas Kreig took victory with Carella and Jorg Oppermann was 0.35 sec behind for second place on Che Guevera. Michael was 1.03 sec behind the winner.
Millie Allen bounced into third in the 1* 1.40m with Udo Oppermann’s Balou du Rouet stallion Balou Star. Ten of 37 produced round one clears, with Mille finishing 1.59 sec in arrears behind winner, Germany’s Mario Walter on Lancerto. Jack Whitaker also made the jump-off on Stakkato de Fee, but two down dropped them to 10th spot.
Michael came home on seven faults in the seven-year-old 1.40m with the Dollar de la Pierre-sired Arlo de Blondel to be out of the running and in 17th.
