Gillian Anderson is Hickstead-bound after winning the SEIB winter novice qualifier at Richmond Equestrian Centre in North Yorkshire on JJ’s Prince Chaccomo.
A field of 42 initially chased the two coveted Royal International qualifying places, and these were whittled down to 16 for the jump-off. And it was all about the clock as seven riders posted double clears.
Strathaven, Larnarkshire-based Gillian set a sizzling target and despite several challenges, she held on to the top spot by a slender margin on Prince Chaccomo. she has ridden the seven-year-old for 18 months and since his British novice days.
Rosie Gunn and the Arezzo VDL/C Indoctro II six-year-old Jagerbomb came within 0.05 sec to claim the second place. Rosie is no stranger to Hickstead and won the RIHS 128cm final back in 2004 and took second in 2005 with the incredible Get Ready Freddie.
