Another day, another win for Billy and Ardcolum Duke in Zurich

It was another day, another win for Ireland’s Billy Twomey and the ultra-consistent Ardcolum Duke in Zurich. The Gypsy Duke/Clover Hill stallion relished the 1.40m speed on the second day of the show to gallop ahead of his nearest rivals under Billy’s expert guidance to finish with 2.39 sec in hand.

The Netherlands’ Maikel van Der Vleuten took second with VDL Groep Quatro. Michael Whitaker gave Viking an easy jump round for a clear and 14th place.

William Whitaker suffered a four-fault day. On Utamaro D Ecaussines, he finished on four in the 1.50m two-phase, won by Germany’s Marco Kutscher on Van Gogh. And Fento Chin S jumped clear in the accumulator but hit the Joker to drop down to 16th.

Switzerland’s Pius Schwizer was in unbeatable form with Electric Z. The pair – winners of the opening 1.35m 24 hours earlier – doubled up with victory in the 1.50m and the concluding, exciting knockout.
