Louise Whitaker heads the grand prix at Hartpury Spectacular


Less than a week after winning the winter premier grand prix at Arena UK, Louise Whitaker guided Sultan Saud’s Berlin daughter Leen OL into the top spot of the feature, Baileys Horse Feeds big tour grand prix at the Hartpury Spectacular to lift the £2,000 first prize.

Robert Bevis took second on Caicos with Heather Larson jumping into third on Imagine De Muze.Six jumped double clear, with Tim Stockdale in fourth and sixth on Tornado Des Monts and Miss Fritz, sandwiching Emma Slater and Crack Van Overis Z into fifth.

Graham Gillespie claimed victory in the Superflex small grand prix with a new ride, Laverin De Saar, a 12-year-old mare previously ridden by Germany’s Anna Maria Kuhlmann. Alfie Bradstock eased Tiger Bright into second with Harry Charles on Alure III in third. Adam Botham, second yesterday, settled for fourth on Demograaf with LanceWhitehouse on Don Diablo in fifth.

James Emblen topped the Lister amateur A tour first leg on Losebys Sawasdee Hi, pushing Rachel Horton into second on Carneval De La Ferme Blanche. Polly Shaw with Golden Grove Ait A took third, Stevie Jenkins rode Nolton Its Oscar into fourth and Hugo Lennard took fifth on Vreymoedt.

James Johnson rode the Quattro B 12-year-old Zorro V into the top spot of the amateur B first leg, beating Samanta Rundle into second with Tanto. Stevie Jenkins netted third and fifth on Willem M and Ultra Lux, sandwiching Berenice Laurent into fourth with Zimza La Bim.

Rachel claimed the Cushionbed amateur warm-up with Carneval De La Ferme Blanche. Martin Brake eased Quenza Des Tullieres into second ahead of third-placed Samantha Kellett on V Ramzes Z and Emily Harding in fourth aboard The Stig.
