Jay Halim and Derby are victorious on the final day at Hartpury Spectacular
Jay Halim jumped into the top spot of the Blue Chip Dynamci B and C with the eight-year-old Verdi/Voltaire stallion Derby on the final day of the Hartpury Spectacular. Only 14 contended the class, with Joe Fernyhough in second on the Caretino nine-year-old Countess II. Emma Slater rode into third on LTF Marbella.
Sarah Hedges triumphed in the Blue Chip Karma performance on Nicki Sharp’s Verdi seven-year-old Millfield Verve. Gemma Ellison took second on the six-year-old Cynthia Flint with Jay Halim and Jaque Mate third. Emily Harding’s The Stig took fourth and Lowri Ball was fifth aboard Kandia Van De Brouwershoeve.
James Johnson claimed his second win of the week, topping the B tour amateur grand prix on the Quattro B 12-year-old Zorro V. Lucy Morgan netted second with the nine-year-old Cannavaro II with Stevie Jenkins in third aboard Ultra Lux. Martin Brake and Courtown Skippy took fourth with Bryony Holloway on Del Piero in fifth. James was also sixth on Lapvia Van T Lozerhof with the final double clear.
Laura Whittington headed the Andrew Bowen A tour amateur grand prix on the nine-year-old Hayestown Diamond Lady to claim the £200 first prize. Seven of the 58 starters jumped double clear, with Theresa Anderson taking second on Kashmir VS, beating Polly Shaw and Golden Grove Ait A into third. Claire Reynolds took fourth on Baig Al Li with Emily Harding’s The Stig in fifth.
Olivia Painter topped the Zamar warm-up on Caretino Honey, beating Samantha Kellett into second on V Ramzes Z. Arthur Townend claimed third with KJ Element, Madeline White was fourth on Stratas and Rebecca Daniel took fifth with Belasco.
