Julie Andrews takes a win on day one at Hartpury Spectacular

On day one of the Hartpury Spectacular in Gloucestershire, Julie Andrews galloped into the top spot of the big tour leg one with the Cantos/Burggraaf 1-year-old Ayrton, holding off Trevor Breen’s challenge with Bombay II, a Lord Z/Bon Ami nine-year-old mare to leave the Irishman in second. Lance Whitehouse took third on Cartino III with Laura Renwick in fourth aboard Yazmin Pinchen’s Van De Vivaldi. Julie Also netted fifth on Wilando B.

Laura immediately hit winning form to take the small tour leg one on the Con Air 11-year-old mare Con Chilli. Adam Botham brought the Quasimodo z eight-year-old Demograaf into second with Adrian Whiteway and the nine-year-old Cojack in third. Trevor Breen claimed fourth on Kimba Classic with George Whitaker and the impressive Cavas Toftegard in fifth.

John Daker headed the warm-up class on the Heartbreaker nine-year-old Credit Card, pushing Millie Cornock on Bommel into second with James Johnson in third and fifth on Zorro V and Eskola M. Katie Fletcher took fourth aboard Cosmo V.
