John Whitaker and Ornellaia are in the money in Paris

John Whitaker slotted Team Harmony’s Ornellaia into fourth in the Longines Paris Masters grand prix. He coaxed the 11-year-old For Pleasure daughter into a double clear in the eight-strong jump-off – yielded from 44 starters – to finish more than five sec behind the winner.

Belgium’s Gregory Wathelet celebrated victory on Eldorado Van Het Vijverhof after beating Ireland’s Bertram Allen on Hector Van d’Abdijhoeve into second by 0.22 sec. Daniel Duesser for Germany finished third with Equita Van’t Zorgvliet. It was not Scott Brash’s class and Hello Guv’Nor retired.

Jessica Mendoza claimed eighth on the 13-year-old Wan Architect in the 2* Elite 1.45/1.50m with clear and four, the rail on the floor dropping them down the line from a possible victory. Winner France’s Guillaume Foutrier on Isperado Van Het Wingerd Hof was more than a second slower, but crucially jumped double clear.
