Kerry Brennan heads the feature class are Arena UK on day one of the winter premier
Kerry Brennan headed the 1.35m on day one at Arena UK’s winter premier show with Dynamic III to pocket the £750 first prize. Eleven of the 33 starters reached the jump-off, with Kerry easing the Warrant eight-year-old into an unbeatable lead to win by 0.28 sec.
The jump-off was hot and fast. Louise Saywell slotted James Hughes’ 10-year-old Cordalis 7 into second with Julie Andrews just behind by 0.22 sec for third on Ayrton IV. Seven double clear were produced, with Tom Whitaker and Ebelina W in fourth, Louise Whitaker on Ruby VIII took fifth ahead of sixth-placed Lauren Edwards on Ella Sandra G and Yazmin Davies claimed seventh with Zilverster II.
Alfie Bradstock topped the B and C on the eight-year-old mare Tiger Bright, winning by 1.34 sec from Emily Hilton with Milly On Air, a Billy Mexico/Cavalier Royale eight-year-old. Philip Curtis took third in the 28-strong jump-off with Sammy Render’s Master Reuben SR, finishing half a sec ahead of Yazmin on Zanbowa in fourth. Philip was also in sixth on Arkantine SR, just ahead of Dale Burnham in fifth on Calinka III.
Matt Sampson steered Reece Oliver’s 12-year-old Costalot into the top spot in the 1.25m speed, taking the class by the narrow margin on 0.13 sec. Taisie de Gruchy claimed second on the seven-year-old Hoodshill First Look and Robert Whitaker slotted Brendon Stud’s For Pleasure/Diamant De Semilly eight-year-old stallion Fabrice Van Overis into third. Sophie Fawcett jumped into fourth on Quite Cadiz with Dale and Calinka in fifth and Scarlett Ward aboard Calista H in sixth.
Charlene Bastone took victory in the Foxhunter/grade C on Fyberlinus H, a Zirocco Blue VDL/Nimmersor six-year-old. Ashlea Silk-Jones was more than two sec in arrears on the eight-year-old Charley Grey for second with Justine Strauel in third on Elegance Lady. Mark Williams eased Greenacres Diadoro into fourth ahead of Megan Howard with Ullina De Caumont in fifth and sixth-placed Emily Hilton on Galwaybay Junior.
Lauren Edwards took first and third in the initial newcomers on two Pall Mall H five-year-olds, winning with Boston 11by 0.41 sec and taking third on Expresso 99. Luke Humphrey sandwiched AGL Cruise Control into second with Zoe Adams in fourth on Manderville Crescendo. Declan Irvine was fifth with Biendorado and Anne Veeder claimed sixth aboard Chincoreve.
