Jamie Wingrove and Heartstring hit form in Lier

Jamie Wingrove skilfully eased into victory in the young horse five and six-year-old on Helen and Mark Wells and Georgia Reynolds’ six-year-old Cicero Z Van Paemel daughter Heartstring. The consistent mare crossed the line with 0.60 sec to spare. Joe Clee took 10th on Kafka VD Heffinck.

Sam Ward took third in the seven-year-old with the Diamant De Semilly sired Romany, 2.69 sec behind the pace, and also claimed 11th on second ride Troy III. Michael Potter was 14th on Just A Dream D15 and Jamie picked up 16th on Ephonie P – both jumping clear.

Jamie also claimed third on Grupello Z in the 2* 1.30m, 1.30 sec off the pace. Sam Ward and Wish took fifth.In a fast, 1.40m section B two-phase, Jamie Wingrove posted clear and four on both of his rides, Helen Rees’ Bart VI claiming 13th with Ruth Reay’s Cardigan Z in 31st. British-based Irishman Dave Quigley jumped EIS Isaura into 15th.

In the section A 1.40m, Sam on Quality II and Joe Clee with Isolde Van De Heffinck both returned four faults.

Nina Barbour slotted the Chambertin 16-year-old Calle into fourth in the 2* 1.35m, 1.62 sec behind the winner. Zoe Adams took seventh on the eight-year-old Miss Piccachu and Stacey Babes jumped a steady clear on Cazador LS for 21st.

Emma Rust slotted Denada into ninth in the 1* 1.20m with a double clear. Sam and Keep Clapping incurred four faults in round one to drop out of contention.
