Ben Maher and Diva are top in Madrid

Ben Maher hit form in Madrid, taking the Uax Trophy 1.55m with Diva, an 11-year-old Kannan mare bred in Britain by Liz Edgar. Eleven riders from the 48 starters came forward to the jump-off, although four posted jumping clears but picked upone time fault. It was all about the clock in round two, with Ben easing the feisty mare into victory to win by 0.22 sec over Ludger Beerbaum’s Chiara.

Jessica Mendoza topped the 2* JumpingClash challenge 1.45m speed with Constance, an Indoctro/Animo nine-year-old mare. The pair showed a clean pair of heels, winning by an impressive 3.12 sec.

Ben gave the Casall eight-year-old Cliff 67 a steady run round the 5* 1.45m speed for 17th place. Scott Brash also posted a jumping clear on Hello M’Lady but picked up one time fault. Spain’s Eduardo Alvarez Aznar won withFidux.

Tamarin Christie took 10th on the Winningmood seven-year-old Jacinthe van Dorperheide in the 1.25m speed.
