Jamie Wingrove and Leonie Aitkenhead are in the money in Kronenberg

Five days after winning at BS Area 22’s show in Staffordshire, Jamie Wingrove eased Dyfrig Richard and Helen Rees’ 10-year-old Bart into eighth on day one at De Peelbergen, Kronenberg, in the Emmers 1.40m speed. Jamie gave Bart an easy run to finish 2.26 sec behind the winner, the Netherlands’ Yves Houtackers on Clooney II – a former ride of Jamie’s until sold as a six-year-old.

Jessica Mendoza jumped a steadier round for 14th on Wan Architect. Also posting steady clears was Jamie on second ride Cardigan Z, Joe Clee with Isolde Van De Heffinck and Millie Allen Lowellie. Stacey Babes returned on just one time fault with Camillo VDL and Leonie Aitkenhead incurred four faults on Clane K.

Such is the popularity of this show in Holland, the 1.40m speed was split into two with 86 participants in each. Leonie took eighth in the second 1.40m speed on the Berlin eight-year-old D.Millfield Darin, 2.18 sec behind the winner. Paul Bevan was also clear on the Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve eight-year-old for 13th spot.

In the young horse 1.30/1.35m, Joe Clee on the six-year-old Calvaro/Diamant De Semilly stallion Kafka Van De Heffinck and William Whitaker with the Emerald Van’T Ruytershof/Nonstop seven-year-old Justin Van De Zandhoeve posted steady schooling double clears for 22nd and 28th repectively. Jessica was also double clear on the Toulon seven-year-old Jonke Van Sombeke.
