Billy Twomey is in the money in Verona

Ireland’s Billy Twomey was denied a win by 0.73 sec in the BMW 1.55m small tour final on Terry Payne’s home-bred Vangelis S 13-year-old Diaghilev. Only seven of the 42 starters provided initial clears, with Billy slotting in behind France’s speedy pairing of Penelope Leprevost and Flora Di Mariposa. Ben Maher and new ride Don Vito had eight faults in the first round.

Scott Brash eased the nine-year-old Hello M’Lord into ninth in the 1.50m speed with a steady clear, finishing 11 sec behind the winner, Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat on Albfeuhren’s Happiness.

Four faults in round one dropped Amy Inglis to 13th in the under 25 on the 12-year-old Every Way. Only six clears were produced.
