Richard Howley is in the money in Mijas


Richard Howley featured in the world ranking 1.45m and won another seven-year-old class on the Costa del Sol tour, Mijas.

He slotted the Tygo nine-year-old Chinook into third in the Master 1.45m speed, finishing three sec behind winner, Switzerland’s Pius Schwizer on PSG Future.

Steven Franks took fifth on Abdul Aziz, a Diamant De Semilly 12-year-old, and Morgan Kent claimed ninth with the eight-year-old Berlin Dolores, a 2016 Foxhunter finalist with Michael Whitaker on board. Lucy Townley returned just one time fault for 16th on the eight-year-old Billy Buckingham, who has made a big step up to this level on this tour. Lucy’s boss William Funnell dropped from third to 18th after a lowering costly pole on Billy McCain.

Richard posted victory in the seven-year-old, jumping into the top spot by half a sec on the Lord-Z sired Lord Boy. Alex and the Billy Congo daughter Billy Fraulein took third 1.41 sec behind them, and also clinched ninth with Billy Holly Blue on one time fault. Jane Davies was 11th also on one time fault with Egalini.

In the 1.40m speed, Steven was best Brit on the Billy Congo 10-year-old Brutus III, taking sixth 2.60 sec behind the winner, Ireland’s Michael Pender with HHS Hercules. Alex Gill eased Billy Chatter into 10th just ahead of father and son Peter Charles, 11th on ABC Quantum Cruise, and Harry in 12th aboard Connection. Harry also took 19th on second ride Valkiry De Zance and Max Routledge also jumped clear on Sieco for 21st.

Daisy Davis was 1.24 sec away from winning the Master 1.35m, having to settle for second in the 12-strong jump-off on the Cheers Cassini 11-year-old Anatar II. Alex and the Billy Mexico seven-year-old Billy Salsa took fifth just ahead of Max in sixth aboard the Baloubet Du Rouet six-year-old Firkov Du Rouet. Jamie Gornall finished 11th with Le Beau and Peter Charles took 12th on Foline.

Lucy Townley guided Billy Pringle into an easy clear for sixth in the six-year-old speed class, 3.66 sec behind the pace. Steven Franks jumped clear on the Kannan-sired Kan Do for 11th and Lucy was fastest four-faulter for 12th on second ride Billy Dorito with Jamie Gornall on count Codex in 14th.

Emily Llewellyn took eighth on Mr Bullseye in the five-year-old speed, where on ly four clears were produced. Laura Robinson and Millfield Cornelious took 12th.
