Richard Howley is unbeatable in Mijas

Ireland’s Richard Howley continued on his incredible winning streak in Mijas on the Costa del Sol tour with a victory double. He won the feature class of the day, guiding the Tygo/Wellington nine-year-old Chinook III into the top spot of the 1.45m, denying Brits a win by 1.31 sec.

William Funnell took second on the Cevin Z eight-year-old Billy McCain with Max Routledge just a tenth of a second behind on Carus Royale. William also claimed sixth on Billy Cool with James Smith on Bolton Gate Ben in seventh. Laura Robinson also posted a double clear on Jonti for 11th place in the 90-strong class.

Richard claimed his second win in the Premium 1.40m, taking the win on the Vaillant/Numero Uno eight-year-old Dienna by an incredible six and half seconds. Only six clears were produced in the 21-horse class, with Morgan Kent in seventh on the Balou Du Rouet 10-year-old Westpoint Baros.

And Ireland denied another British win in the Master 1.30m, Marion Hughes topping the class by 1.24 sec on Heritage HHS Fortuna. Adrian Whiteway took second on new ride, Sharon Baldwin’s Com Air 10-year-old Cash Point, with Lara Whiteway (no relation) in third aboard the Kannan 13-year-old Pericles. James Smith slotted Just Max into fifth and Jamie took 11th on Le Beau, just ahead of 12th placed Peter Charles with Foline.

Lara was a winner in the Premium 1.20m, guiding the Indoctro nine-year-old Cavalia WH into victory by 3.23 sec. Julie Slade claimed second on Billy Gogo and sixth on Billy Angelo with Honor Draycott in fourth aboard Lux De Lux.

Emily Llewellyn claimed fifth on the Carambole/Voltaire seven-year-old Ella VI in the Master 1.35m, just over two sec behind the winner. And Laura Robinson jumped double clear in the Premium 1.30m for 16th on RearCross Quality Cruize.

In the 1.10m, Skye Klein claimed ninth on Heavy C with Francesca Draycott taking 12th on Fernhill Fair Cruise.
