Guy Willams and Casper take victory on the first day at Liege

November 4, 2016

Guy Williams claimed a well-deserved win in the 3* 1.40m at Liege, Belgium, guiding the speedy 14-year-old Casper de Muze to take the win by more than two sec from Belgium’s Gudrun Pateet on Sea Coast B52 F Z.  Four faults dropped Nicole Pavitt on Unesca and Robert Smith’s Cimano E down the order in the 61-strong class.  Robert Whitaker gave Cash Sent a very steady run out on the first day to return six faults.

And Guy was again in the mix in the 1.45m, taking third on the Thunder Van De Zuuthoeve 13-year-old Depardieu Van T Kiezelhof, 1.72 sec behind the winner, Belgium’s Constant van Paesschen on Carlow Van De Helle.  A total of four faults over the two rounds put Sam Hutton and Tchao De La Roque in 16th with Robert Smith on a similar score aboard Ilton in 23rd.

Kate Whitaker took sixth in the 1* 1.20/1.25m on the Singapore seven-year-old mare Eunomia, more than four sec behind the winner.
