Richard Howley takes another win in Mijas

Richard Howley is on fire on the Costa del Sol tour, Mijas. He claimed another win on this tour, taking the top spot in the feature class of the day, the Master 1.45m speed on Calmond. The Clarimo nine-year-old flourished under Richard’s guidance to head the 47-strong class by 1.80 sec.

Lara Whiteway took fourth on the Karandasj/Indoctro 11-year-old VDL Groep Alitta with Steven Franks seventh aboard Carlow Cruiser. Four faults dropped James Smith on Tyson Uno and Steven with second ride Abdul Aziz to 19th and 20th respectively.

Adrian Whiteway was also a winner, pushing the Scottish-bred nine-year-old Cojack into top gear to take a hot, competitive Master 1.35m by 0.15 sec. Jumping steadier double clears was Harry Charles, in 11th on Valkiry De Zance, Max Routledge on the talented Sieco in 12th, Alex Gill aboard Billy Onslow in 14th and Peter Charles with ABC Quantum Cruise in 18th.

Max Routledge eased the Cardino-sired Carus Royale into second in the Master 1.40m, finishing 2.23 sec behind the winner, Spain’s Diego Perez Bilbao on Quinty Du Buisson. James Smith guided Bolton Gate Ben into fifth with Adrian slotting Anytime II just behind into sixth. Adrian also claimed eighth on Carambow, just ahead of Steven Franks in ninth on Brutus III.

Alex Gill slotted Billy Holly Blue into fourth in the seven-year-old speed more than three sec behind the pace. Richard Howley produced the fastest time of the class on Lord Boy but a rail down cost them victory and they dropped to 12th. Alex on second ride Billy Fraulein and Jane Davies with Egalini also returned on four faults.

Lucy Townley was best Brit in the six-year-old speed, taking fourth on the Kannan-sired Billy Pringle. Max and Firkov Du Rouet took sixth with Lucy in 10th on Billy Dorito and Jane Davies 15th on Cipriani.

In the five-year-old speed, Emily Llewellyn jumped into fourth on Mr Bullseye and Laura Robinson took eighth with the Cornet Obolensky stallion Millfield Cornelious – recently bought via Adrian Whiteway.
