Michaela Huntington and the speedy Alegro Z are on-song at Addington


Michaela Huntington claimed the National 1.35m on Alegro Z at Addington premier show to register for the final at the inaugural London Spring International at the Excel arena next Easter 2017. The Asca Z/Crown Z eight-year-old mare Alegro Z – who finished eighth in the HOYS talentseekers final last month – found the shortest route under Michaela’s guidance in the hot, 20-strong jump-off and fully justified their recent British Showjumping ‘Step up for Gold’ programme.

David Murdoch claimed the second qualifying place on the rangy Ard VDL Douglas 11-year-old Senor D. Locally-based Helen Tredwell filled the third qualifying spot on Ann and Colin Garrett’s Unbelievable Darco 10-year-old Sebastian VII.

Jamie Wingrove took fourth on Bart IV with Phillip Miller and Brendon Stud’s Sussex Caretino in fifth and Mennell Watson’s Whisper In The Wind sixth.

Derek McCoppin headed the B and C on the Ard VDL Douglas/Touchdown 11-year-old Whiterock Lucky Lady, relegating Helen Tredwell and Remi Argentux, an Argentinus/Lux nine-year-old, into second. John Crippen eased Content into third with Chris Smith and Cargot Z fourth, Bumble Thomas on Aramis in fifth and Dan Deslart with Diamants Aurora sixth.

Mark Edwards galloped into a 1.25m win on Greenvale Cara, the seven-year-old mare outpacing all rivals. Emma-Jo Slater netted second and fourth places with Kim Barzilay’s home-bred Kimba Classic and Kimba Flamenco. Ben Walker sandwiched Victory VI into third with Carron Nicol in fifth on Fantaland.

Chris Smith lifted the top two places in the Foxhunter/grade C with the Verdi/Padinus seven-year-old Elmo Hill and Warriors Glory, a seven-year-old Warrior/Caretino Glory stallion. Carron Nicol guided Finnegan D, a six-year-old Singapore/Cassini I stallion, with Emily Davies on Elitair V in fourth. Caitlin Whittaker took fifth on EMS Verda and Lana Craker was sixth aboard Jipsy VD Broekkant.

Emma McGlynn topped the newcomers on her mother Mandy’s home-bred Marcolas G six-year-old daughter Lycolas. Jay Halim took second on the seven-year-old Jaque Mate with Carron on the impressive five-year-old Diamant De Semilly/Sandro Boy stallion Galerius in third. Abbie Walters took fourth on Loughnatousa Napoleon and sixth aboard Miretta Mena with Ben Walker and Warriors Charm fifth.
