Harriet Nuttall wins in Vilamoura
Harriet Nuttall and the Cougar/Flagmount Diamond 15-year-old Highland Cruiser galloped into fourth place in the 3* 1.30m speed. The pair finished three sec behind the winner, Portugal’s Ricardo Gil Santos on Venus C.
Philip Spivey on Hickstead AEG also jumped clear to take 13th. Philip also finished 20th on second ride Kasparov with four faults.
Philip and the Ard VDL Douglas 11-year-old VDL Cassius jumped into seventh in the 1.40m speed. Four faults dropped Jude Burgess and Comeback De Fremis down to 13th. Jay Buxton with Sekhmet De Keralys and Harriet Nuttall on Dulf also returned with one rail down for 18th and 19th respectively.
Jay met a similar fate in the 3* 1.50m grand prix, four faults in round one on Strides Hilansterne dropping him out of contention and into 19th spot. Harriet and A Touch Imperious came home on five faults.
The Netherlands’ Sanne Thijssen on Con Quidame RB headed the eight-horse jump-off by 1.12 sec from the USA’s Reed Kessler on Cos I Can – an Olympic Lux 13-year-old produced in Britain to International level by Shane Breen.
Arianna Kuligowski eased the 10-year-old Coco Fino into third in the 1* 1.10m. Jodie Caudle brought Blue Skyliner into seventh.
