Louise Saywell doubles up in the HOYS Challenge Cup

Fresh from her Irish Horse Gateway 1.45m win on Peiter on Saturday, Louise Saywell doubled up in the Challenge cup 1.45m, winning from the front with Feigtling by more than four sec.

“I managed to get all the turn options but I did take a pull and an extra stride to the last to make sure I was clear,” said Louise.

Graham Ward’s Feigtling came to Louise in June on recommendation by Johnny and James Hughes – owner of Peiter. And Louise thinks a lot of the Chicago Z/Darco 11-year-old.

“He’s a big jumping horse,” said Louise, who has grand prix ambitions with this gelding – a real character.

“If he was a dog, he’d be your best friend, he’s such a character. He didn’t want to get out of bed this morning and stayed lying down while he was plaited.”

James Smith took second on Balibu, a Baloubet Du Rouet 11-year-old he’s ridden for just a month.

Ireland’s Shane Breen took third with the nine-year-old Tango D’Ecry with Geir Gulliksen fourth on the Zenot sired eight-year-old David Guetta. William Funnell was fifth with the Cevin Z eight-year-old Billy McCain, with Michael Whitaker sixth on Elie Van De Kolmen, just ahead of Tim Stockdale and Miss Fritz.
