Joe Whitaker continued on his incredible winning streak to take Northcote Stud’s Winter National 1.35m on Lareeco and secure qualification for the new London Spring International Horse Show in 2017.
The Landgold 13-year-old Lareeco was sidelined for 10 months last year and only returned to compeititon in June, but has bounced into form of late. The pair simply flew round the course here to land the top spot by a quarter of a sec.
Annabel Shields chase hard on Wet Wet Wet, a Mr Blue 13-year-old, to take second with the third Spring Show qualifying position going to Suzanne Posnett and the 13-year-old mare Wolina Roundthorn.
George Whitaker was fourth on Darius with Annabel fifth on Carnoneybridge Challenger and Jonathan Dixon sixth with Continio.
Rebecca Marsh was on form over the weekend. After taking Hickstead winter novice qualification on Predator Ridge, she pushed the nine-year-old Temple Croesus daughter into the winter grade C top spot, winning by more than five sec.
Samantha Jimmison netted second spot in her final outing before she tackles the HOYS newcomer final on the Clinton/Heartbreaker seven-year-old Ebolensky. Alex Dunning took third with Talon II and Chris Smith claimed fourth on Cargot Z. Amy Ryan took fifth with Millfield Ester and sixth went to Annabel Shields on My Casall – another HOYS newcomer contender.
Charlotte Geddes outpaced all to head the DDS Demolition winter 1.25m qualifier by 0.79 sec on the 11-year-old Van De Bay Girl. The speedy Paul Barker chased hard but couldn’t catch her and took second and third with Lux Fabulous and U2 II. James Smith was fourth on Parkhill Legacy and fifth aboard Quattro, and Claire Shepherd-Bramham eased Jordanta into sixth.
Suzanne Posnett enjoyed a great show here with several wins and places, and claimed the Foxhunter/1.20m on the final day with Karmijn. She outran Paul Barker by more than a sec to leave hm in second on U2 II. Sammie Borthwick took third on April Love II, Nicola Dolan netted fourth with Hermione VI, Paul also took fifth with Tolkien and Heather Denholm picked up sixth on Bowes Warrington Walter.
