Laura Mantel is best Brit in Bonheiden

Laura Mantel galloped into the top spot of the 2* 1.40m on Liz Howes’ home-bred nine-year-old Caretino Glory daughter Glory B V in a hot, competitive class in week two at Bonheiden. They won by almost three sec. Trevor Breen and Bombay took third.

Entries were so big the 1.40m was split, and Hannah Hughes took sixth on Eye Catcher II in the second section. British-based Ajai Appachu, riding for India, took seventh on Charmeur Z. Bumble Thomas and Ciandro claimed 11th place with Danielle Farnsworth and Claddagh Iroko 13th.

Danielle featured in the 1.30m, taking sixth with Archie XI more than seven sec behind the pace. Hannah on Tekila Sun Belin claimed 15th with Leonora Smee in 17th on Waltons Top Flight. Steadier clears put Nicola Barry on El Nino V and William Whitaker with Diablesse De Muze in 23rd and 24th.

Laura was also second in the five-year-old aboard New Priory Stud’s NPS Erleena. They were just 0.42 sec behind the winner. Katinka Brogaard took seventh with Galveston G. Clear and four put Danielle Hughes on Garfield in 19th with John Steels in 21st on Geronimo PC Z.

Danielle Farnsworth took 11th on Firestone in the six-year-old. Donna Callaghan was also double clear on Freek VT Scharenborg for 21st with Charlotte Barry and Cludo in 23rd place.

Liz Forrester was 1.41 sec behind the pace for fourth in the seven-year-old on Elivander Emaire. Kathryn Ellison was hot on her heels with Bayjing for fifth and Katinka took eighth on Entertainer. William Whitaker was 10th on Justin VD Zandhoeve and Trevor Breen slotted Enterprise just behind in 11th.

John Steels eased the seven-year-old Einstein M into fourth in the 1.10m, over six sec behind the pace. Charlotte Lee took sixth on Hillviewfarm Fergus with Donna Callaghan 11th on Chacco Brown and Julie Whibley 13th aboard Harlequin Joe. Danielle Farnsworth took 17th on Pequena Beech and Danielle Hughes with Cassini Royale III was 19th.
