Rowan Willis takes the big class in Morocco

British-based Australian Rowan Willis got day one at Tetouan, Morocco, off to a flying start with a superb victory in the 3* 1.45m speed aboard Blue Movie, a Chacco Blue 10-year-old bred out of Nick Skelton’s former top mare Showtime. They claimed the win by 0.42 sec from Belgium’s speedy pair Jerome Guery and Papillon Z.

Robert Whitaker eased Catwalk into sixth, three sec behind Robert. Lara Whiteway took a steadier route for 13th on the 11-year-old VDL Groep Alitta.

Lara finished 10th in the 1.30m on the 11-year-old Cocos Moon River in a very fast, competitive class of 62 starters. They were less than two sec behind the winner. Robert Whitaker jumped a double clear on Cash Sent for 20th spot. Rowan took 22nd on Easy 9, Robert was 24th with second ride Noble Warrior and Lara was just behind on Diralda P for 25th – all posting double clears.

Isabelle George took 15th on the Cornet’s Stern seven-year-old Jaliska Van De Heide in the 1.25m.
