John Whitaker gives Argento a steady run on day one in LA

John Whitaker gave Argento a canter round in the 5* 1.45m KTLA Trophy on day one of the Longines Masters of Los Angeles to slot the Arko stallion into eighth spot. They finished just behind Ireland’s Denis Lynch with Campino 344 and more than six sec behind the winner, Italy’s Emanuele Gaudino on Guess 6.

John also gave the Holsteiner 12-year-old Lord of Arabia a steady run for two time faults and 20th spot. Scot Brash and Ursula XII incurred nine faults.

Sweden’s Hanna Mauritzon topped the 2* 1.45m speed with the Lux Z 11-year-old Parkmore Lux – an Irish-bred bay produced in Britain through the grades from a five-year-old to 4* level by Damian Charles before he was sold just over 12 months ago.
