Chris Smith is a winner at Northcote Stud

Chris Smith claimed a handsome win in the Blue Chip B and C with the Carthago Z/Quidam De Revel seven-year-old Cargot Z on day one at Northcote’s Development Classic. The pair jumped into the top spot by 1.46 sec.

Lucy Turner celebrated her birthday at the show and was denied a win, but eased the 11-year-old Anita II into second. Rachel Connor and her HOYS newcomer finalist Zaha, a Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve six-year-old, took third with Holly Miller on the seven-year-old HHS Dramarko in fourth. Angel Tough took fifth with Columbus, Claire Shepherd-Bramham on El Diablo Grande claimed sixth with seventh-placed Claire West on Courageux and Lucy in eighth on second ride Fantasy II also claiming Blue Chip championship finalist places.

Suzanne Posnett doubled up with 1.30m and 1.25m wins. The 13-year-old mare Wolina Roundthorn headed the 1.30m by an impressive 3.60 sec for Suzanne. Christina Kenyon took second on the nine-year-old Temple Calypso stallion Calypsos Rampant Million with Amanda Forster on Chagall in third. Vicky Laing slotted the Cardento 10-year-old Baltimore VDM into fourth.

The 12-year-old mare Zinniz Roundthorn gave Suzanne her second win in the 1.25m, taking victory by 1.32 sec. Suzanne also netted third on the eight-year-old Carrickview Gin and Tonic. Tracy Holder eased into second on Bon Ami/Darco 18-year-old Valleur Van Het Lindehof. Claire Shepherd-Bramham took fourth on Jordanta with Julie Andrews fifth on Senator CC Catch and Natasha Dawson on Black Cat in sixth.

Rachael Connor headed the Foxhunter on the super-consistent, super-fast 10-year-old B Valeree, taking the win by five sec. Charlotte Geddes claimed second and fourth places with eight-year-old Vitaal G daughter Paradise G and the Stryker/Ramiro Z seven-year-old Evangelina.

Simon Buckley took fifth on Vallara with Sarah Winterbottom in sixth on Katie 1 and Dee Hankey seventh aboard Valverde DH Z.

Declan Irvine claimed victory in the 1.20m, the Harlequin Du Carel eight-year-old Keeford Carousel winning by 0.37 sec. Caroline Ravenscroft took second on the Omnistar 16-year-old Tibor II and fourth with the 13-year-old Heartbreaker daughter Chickadee. Angel Tough was in third aboard Columbus, Helen Ravenscroft slotted the 10-year-old Aurore into fifth with Julie Andrews and The Drawness sixth. Rosemarie and Christina Kenyon dominated the newcomers and 1.10m classes.

Rosemarie topped the newcomers with the six-year-old Calypso’s King Million, winning by 0.31 sec. Sarah and Katie 1 took second with Shelley Harrison in third on the Je Taime Flamenco/Quidam De Revel six-year-old Tasky De Pravia. Tom Dovkants was fourth on the Arezzo VDL/Oklund seven-year-old Belle Femme, Nicola Hargreaves claimed fifth on Forrella TS, Declan Irvine took sixth on Zandeur Clover and Kathryn Payne finished seventh on Ask Elvis.

Rosemarie had to settle for second in the 1.10m on the Conterno Grande/Baloubet Du Rouet 10-year-old Top Shot Million, beaten by Christina on the 17-year-old My Other Million by 0.76 sec.

Charlotte Geddes was third on Killiney with Suzanne Posnett fourth aboard Karmijn, Rachael Connor fifth with Van Persie and Holly Miller with Bright Eyes T in sixth.
