Alison Barton is denied a win by a fraction of a second in Arezzo

September 9, 2016

Alison Barton claimed second in Arezzo’s 2* 1.30m just 0.29 sec behind the pace on Billy Anna in the 11-strong jump-off. One time fault prevented Laura Robinson from joining the jump-off on Rearcross Quality Cruize and they took 14th. Chris Moorhouse and Evita returned four faults.

Britain’s veteran squad took fourth in the Veteran European Championships team competition. The team of Sandra Low Mitchell on Eccosse, Sally Swiers with Millfield Long Socks, Keith Stockdale on Touareg D Ertaw and Ian Wynne aboard Don Douglas finished on a score of 27.26. They started the day on 11.26 penalties gained from the individual qualifying round and in sixth position, but jumped up the order in round one of the team with a four fault total. However, 12 faults in a difficult second round pegged them in fourth.

Germany won on 12.4 score, Italy took silver on 13.5 and Belgium claimed bronze with 21.24.

James Loffett finished fourth on EFS Rambo in the small veteran class with a double clear, almost three sec behind the winner.

Four faults dropped Alison Barton and Stairway to the Stars down to ninth in the six-year-old speed.

Rachel Howell and Utopia X claimed fourth in the 1* 1.20m speed, more than five sec in arrears.
