Richard Barton claimed victory in the 2* 1.30m aboard the Ukato/Ovidius eight-year-old Donata, winning by a handsome 2.14 sec. It was a great warm-up for HOYS, the pair will contend the Foxhunter final next month.
Alison Barton on Billy Anna clamed third in the 2* ladies speed class 0.42 sec behind the winner. Laura Robinson and Lombelle finished seventh.
Chris Moorhouse netted second in the 1* 1.15m speed on Sienna, 3.38 sec behind the winner. Emma Howell finished in ninth on Beach Boy. Chris was denied a jump-off chance in the 1* 1.25m with four faults in the first round, dropping Evita to 15th place.
James Loffett took fourth in the Veterans Europa Cup with Falline. Only two double clears were produced with James coming home on five faults in round two.
Rachel Howell took 11th on Utopia X in the 1* 1.20m.
At the Stephex Masters, Brussels, James Davenport finished sixth on the Cardento 12-year-old Tiger in the 2* grand prix with a double clear but coming home almost four sec behind the pace in the 11-strong jump-off. Scott Brash eased Hello Forever into 11th with eight faults in the jump-off. Four faults in round one dropped Jess Mendoza down to 18th on Zahra. Aimee Jones returned on five faults with Never Last.
And a round one four faults put Michael Whitaker and Viking out of the running in the top-billed 1.60m 5* grand prix. Belgium’s Niels Bruynseels won on Cas De Liberte from Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat on Bianca.
Jack Whitaker claimed eighth in the 2* 1.45m on Native De Vesquerie. Nina Barbour took 15th on Calle.
