Laura Renwick is a winner in Valence

Laura Renwick and Heliodor Hybris claimed a great victory in Saturday’s Valence 4* 1.50m, a speed class carrying world ranking points, the Diamant De Semilly nine-year-old winning by just 0.06 sec.

And the on-form pair missed out on a double of wins by 0.18 sec in Sunday’s 4* world ranking 1.50m. France’s Roger Yves Bost took the win on Pegase Du Murier.

Laura and Bintang were ninth in the 1.60m grand prix with four faults in round one. The seven-horse jump-off was a French whitewash, with Simon Delestre taking the win on Chesall Zimequest, Kevin Staut on For Joy Van’t Zorgvliet HDC and Roger in third with Sangria Du Coty.

Sam Ward and the Quidam De Revel 12-year-old Quality II cantered into sixth in the 2* world ranking 1.45m with clear and eight. Only two double clears were produced in the seven-horse decider.

Claire Beecroft took fifth in the 1.35m speed on Vanda Cartier, more than four sec behind the pace. Tess Carmichael and Unique III finished eighth. Tess was also 10th in the 2* 1.40m on Atlanta PP Z and Claire collared seventh in the 1.15m on Sam W. Her sister Imogen took 10th on Roscoe’s Amour.
