Laura Renwick is top in Millstreet

Laura Renwick justified her top British lady rider tag in Millstreet, taking victory in the big 1.60m grand prix on Heliodor Hybris and slotting MHS Washington into fifth.

She was just one fence away from taking the top two places. Washington posted the fastest time in the jump-off by 2.62 sec but a rail hit the floor.

A total of eight from 32 starters gained first round clears, but they were no match for Laura, who brought the Diamant De Semilly/Cannonball nine-year-old to the fore by 2.29 sec. Holly Smith took sixth on the eight-year-old Lammy Beach, another posting a fast four faults.

Louise Saywell and Patrol took 10th with Graham Lovegrove on Centolove in 11th, both on four faults in round one. Stevie Crosby on TGF Rubin, Pippa Allen’s Hope Springs, Beth Vernon with Lotus and Lance Whitehouse on Vik II all came home on eight.
