The girls are on top in Millstreet

The Brits are going great guns in Millstreet! They commandingly filled the top four places in the big class of the day, Millstreet Masters 1.50m, led by Laura Renwick.

Only four clears were produced in the first round, with Laura the fastest on the eight-year-old Obos Quality mare MHS Washington, winning by 0.19 sec.

Louise Saywell netted second and third with slower clears on the 15-year-old Darco stallion Mr Darcy and Billy Twomey’s 10-year-old Patrol V. With the fastest time of the class but at the expense of a rail on the floor, Laura took fourth on second ride Utrillo De Breve, and eight-year-old selle Francais stallion.

Ireland’s Michael Pender (Z7 Cordanos V) and Dermott Lennon (Valent) took fifth and sixth on one time fault in round one, and Brits Pippa Allen aboard Hope Springs and Stevie Crosby with TGF Rubin finished in seventh and eighth on four faults in round one.

Lance Whitehouse was best Brit in the 1.35m speed Derby aboard Dior Van Overis Z in third 10 sec behind the winner, Ireland’s Luke Campbell and Premier Sport. Holly Smith and Elore had four faults to drop to 18th.
