David Simpson takes a world ranking 1.50m place on Cognac at Flanders

Sussex-based Irishman David Simpson celebrated his birthday with seventh in the world ranking 1.50m on Unex Cognac IV with clear and eight in the 11-strong jump-off at Flanders, Beervelde in Belgium. His fiancee Louise Pavitt posted four faults on Grafit to drop down the line from a potential second to 28th. And four faults on Fiona V/H Lemmenshof prevented Louise from participating in the 3* 1.45m jump-of, leaving them in 14th place.

Guy Williams topped the 1.45m two-phase on seasoned campaigner Titus, winning by 1.36 sec.

"Titus is very quick, he measures every jump and has experience going for him. This class suited him," said Guy, on the 16-year-old.

And Guy picked up fifth in the 3* 1.40m speed on the Contendro 12-year-old Carlson, 2.13 sec in arrears.

British-based Irishman Roger McCrea claimed third in the 2* 1.25m with Oakingham stud’s nine-year-old Tulipe De Baudiere, finishing 0.58 sec behind the winner. Ashley Ray and Care For picked up eighth.

A double clear six sec behind the pace earned William Whitaker 10th spot on Diesel GP du Bois Madame.
