Rebecca Ellis takes the final Bronze qualifier at Bicton
Rebecca Ellis has her sights set firmly on HOYS after topping the final Horseware Bronze league qualifier at Bicton Arena on Custer II to go forward to one of the semi-finals, either at Bishop Burton (North) or Keysoe (South) on the 6 and 7 August.
Almost half of the 65 starters jumped first round clears with 32 contending a red-hot jump-off, Rebecca, a winner in the earlier Buckaroo Equine 1.05m, claiming victory in the latter stages by 0.53 sec.
James Rosewell took second on the 10-year-old mare Gabana Van Berkenbroeck with Kerry Grimster taking the third qualifying place on the 10-year-old Bombastic II in the penultimate draw.
Rachel Vicary and the Irish 15-year-old gelding Sparkling Indulgence – a regular winner at Bicton – topped the Silver league qualifier beating 45 other hopefuls to the top spot.
Rebecca Mason and the 12-year-old mare Miserden Imprezza, winners of an earlier 1.20m, claimed second spot with Gemma Hallett aboard Wake Up, a Caesar Van De Helle/Olympic Ramiro 17-year-old filling the third semi-final qualifying place.
Rachel also headed a 1.10m with Sparkling Indulgence and a 1m class on Whos Allez Cat
Andrew Williams scored a 1.30m double, taking the top two on in the initial class with Bodieve Toyboy and Codar and repeating the feat in the final 1.30m on Alie B and Codar. He also claimed a Foxhunter win on Foxdon What Ho to make a hattrick of wins.
