William Funnell wins a car in Geesteren

It is definitely the Brits week for winning cars in Geesteren. Joe Whitaker drove away in a brand new Mercedes 24 hours earlier, and on Saturday it was William Funnell’s turn.

William lifted the Roelofs Groep 3* world ranking 1.50m with Julie Slade’s Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve/Kroongraaf 13-year-old Billy Angelo. The pair took the win by 0.41 sec from the Netherlands’ Robert Vos on Carat. James Billington and Baltic VDL took eighth in the 60-strong speed class. Yesterday’s winner Joe Whitaker had eight faults on Lavarno on this occasion.

Willam took third on the Cevin Z/Cruising eight-year-old Billy McCain, 1.19 sec behind the pace in the 3* 1.40m, won by Ireland’s Cameron Hanley with Clim Bim.

And Spencer Roe posted another British win, taking the Roelefsen Horse Trucks 2* world ranking Grand Prix with the Padinus 13-year-old Wonder Why. The pair galloped away with the top spot in the 10-strong jump-off with a 2.02 sec margin.

Chloe Breen and the Cumano 15-year-old Zidane took seventh with Mark Bunting and Eurohill’s Calcary in ninth.

Ireland continued on a winning run in the 1* 1.30m, Conor Drain on Esmee taking victory by 1.61 sec.

Mark Bunting was ninth in the 2* 1.35m with Eurohill’s Alcatraz, a Heartbreaker/Polydox 11-year-old.
